How legacy mindset has shaped institutional governance, sustainable growth for two decades
BusinessDay speaks with MD/CEO Ademolasoye Awonaike on the legacy mindset, institutional governance and the discipline behind RIL's two decades of sustainable growth.

While many corporate organisations in Nigeria struggle to stay afloat within a decade, indigenous HR outsourcing and management consulting giant Resource Intermediaries Limited has for the last two decades continued to display organisational resilience across West Africa.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ademolasoye Awonaike said the company's survival and sustained growth were rooted in a deliberate "legacy mindset" established from its founding — organisations are not built by chance, but shaped by purposeful decisions, quiet acts of courage and an unwavering commitment to a vision, even when the path ahead is uncertain.
On institutional governance as a pillar for growth, Awonaike said business owners must look beyond short-term commercial success and focus on building institutions that can outlive their founders, attributing RIL's longevity to sound corporate governance, structured reporting frameworks and deliberate operational systems put in place early in the company's lifecycle.
Addressing macro-economic challenges over the company's 20-year history — including the 2015 national economic recession and the global disruptions of the Covid-19 pandemic — he noted that "resilience is not the absence of disruption; it is the ability to adapt without abandoning your principles." Prudent financial management, disciplined leadership and a steadfast commitment to core purpose, he said, remain the foundation for RIL's next era of growth.
Over the last two decades, Resource Intermediaries Limited has grown from a pioneer HR firm into a premier strategic partner for personnel management, talent acquisition, business process outsourcing and corporate advisory services across multiple sectors.
